Navajo Nation Modular Building Facility, Page AZ - ZenniHome

Navajo Modular Economic Development Enterprise - Nation President Buu Nygren signed a $24 million grant to expand production of high Navajo -tech manufactured homes at the former site of the Navajo Generating Station near Page, AZ. Nygren says it’s designed to address the housing crisis on the reservation and expand economic development and employment. The funds from the American Rescue Plan will go to ZenniHome, which manufactures the adjustable homes, and the Navajo-woman-owned architectural firm IDS+A. The current factory is located in the former NGS warehouse and is using steel recycled from the plant. The company says about 6,500 homes could be built with the amount of material repurposed from NGS. The warehouse was transferred to the Navajo Nation after the plant closed in 2019. ZenniHome employs 135 Navajo workers and hopes to eventually build 25 homes daily.

Matrix Modular USA Regional Plant - this pre-engineered metal building is designed utilizing structural steel beam main frames thirty feet center-to-center and the office section is built on-site using the same metal siding and roof to match. It is designed as a generic industrial and/or light manufacturing building so if its use changes in the future it can be readily adapted to the new occupant's space and function requirements.

Some investor's or underwriters may require an "exit strategy" where the building may be liquidated or sold for a number of reasons and a generic building has a higher market or resale value as a relatively new building.

Plant Features - The factory floor incorporates two parallel assembly lanes that go past a of number of stations where building components and system assemblies are added to the modular building much like the process of manufacturing vehicles. As you can see from the layout the modular unit starts at one end and exits the other end as a finished modular unit or as a trucked package of building components. These component "flat packs" consist of light-gauge steel floor/roof trusses and pre-framed wall sections, called panels, that are shipped to the construction sites by flatbed trucks or trailers - thus the term "flat packs".

The administrative offices section contains management offices, the engineering and manufacturing floor control office, the customer showroom, the conference room, and the employee training and meeting room, as well as the restroom core.
